Sustainability News - Global GreenTag & Environmental Choice Certification

Roofing Industries, New Zealand's largest privately owned and operated metal roof and cladding manufacturing business is proud to announce that we have achieved both the Global GreenTag® (ColorCote ®) and the Environmental Choice® tick (Colorsteel ®) and for our products.  

Roofing Industries is committed to reducing our environmental footprint and is working proactively in responding to global sustainable issues. We recognise that sustainable practices need to be embedded in the way we operate with this contributing to our long-term business success.

We recently completed and achieved Global GreenTagCertTM GreenRate Level A certification for our roll-formed Metal Roofing, Cladding, Flashing and Rainwater Systems using ColorCote® coil products from our 14 Branches throughout New Zealand.

This process began some 6 months ago with the help of ColorCote® and their EPD (Environmental Product Declaration).  The internationally recognised certification means that Roofing Industries has put in place globally recognised initiatives to develop, market, and sell products that are achieving less negative environmental and health impacts in the built environment industry.

Furthermore, Roofing Industries Auckland/Waikato/Tauranga/Taupo/Palmerston North & Christchurch are pleased to announce our recent ECNZ (Environment Choice NZ) Licence and tick using NZ Steel Coil products - Colorsteel®, Zincalume® and GalvSteel®.

This certification allows architects and designers to achieve two points towards their Homestar or Greenstar projects when using Roofing Industries Roofing/Cladding products made from NZ Steel products at our Albany Auckland branch.

In addition, there has been a recent change to Homestar in that it now recognises EPD's (Environmental Product Declarations) as an acceptable means of compliance under MAT-1 Sustainable Materials Credit.   This means that architects and designers can achieve up to 1.5 points when using Roofing Industries roofing/cladding products made from NZ Steel products under the ColorSteel®  EPD at all 14 Roofing Industries branches.
