Located in Mangere, Auckland, the new Sistema Manufacturing Facility features 51,500m² of manufacturing, storage and distribution areas and 3,500m² of corporate office space. The state-of-the-art facility designed by Woodhams Meikle Zhan Architects and built by Haydn & Rollett, won the Supreme Award at the 2017 Property Council awards.
For the roof of the building, Haydn & Rollett were assisted by Steel Roofing who helped reduce costs and project time by streamlining the roof design and ensuring smooth installation of the 55,000m² building’s roof. Roofing Industries were contracted to supply a combination of Maxispan® high rib roofing and Multirib® cladding, using Colorcote Zinacore X pre-painted steel in 'Pacific White'.
A strong and aesthetically pleasing high rib roofing and cladding profile, Maxispan® provides an attractive and durable roof for the facility. The practical design of the profile also aided the construction programme. “The Maxispan® high rib roofing and cladding profile provides significant spanning advantages with low pitch and wide cover,” explains Paul Ross, Roofing Industries. “This contributed to reducing installation time.”
Complementing the Maxispan® profile, the use of Colorcote Zinacore X ensures an attractive and long-lasting finish for the roof. “Zinacore X has excellent colour and gloss retention,” explains Paul. “This makes it ideal for industrial sites where there is a high risk of deterioration from corrosive elements in the environment.”
In addition to the roofing, Roofing Industries’ Multirib® metal wall cladding was also specified for large sections of the building.
This effective combination of Roofing Industries’ roofing and cladding systems has resulted in a durable and attractive building that will accommodate Sistema’s growth, well into the future.
